Is Fuzzy Logic Passé?

About ten years ago, I mentioned to a colleague that I was wrestling, in a fuzzy way, with some question about fuzzy logic. He replied (whimsically?). "Isn't fuzzy logic passé?"
Well, I now have an answer for him.
